Blood Glucose Unit Conversion

Blood Glucose
mmol/L
mg/dL

Calculation Formula

1 mmol/L = 18 mg/dL

Explanation

In diabetes screening methods, fasting blood glucose screening is simple and easy to perform and should be used as a routine screening method, but there is a possibility of missed diagnosis. If fasting blood glucose is ≥6.1 mmol/L or random blood glucose is ≥7.8 mmol/L, it is recommended to perform OGTT (fasting blood glucose and 2-hour post-load blood glucose).

Hypoglycemia:

For non-diabetic patients, the diagnostic criteria for hypoglycemia is blood glucose <2.8 mmol/L. For diabetic patients receiving medication, blood glucose levels ≤3.9 mmol/L are considered hypoglycemic.

Hyperglycemia:

Fasting blood glucose ≥6.1 mmol/L

2-hour post-load blood glucose ≥7.8 mmol/L
