Calculation Formula

Total Cholesterol (TC): 1mmol/L = 1mg/dL × 0.02586

Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL-C): 1mmol/L = 1mg/dL × 0.02586

High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL-C): 1mmol/L = 1mg/dL × 0.02586

Triglycerides (TG): 1mmol/L = 1mg/dL × 0.01129

Clinical Significance

The basic items for blood lipid testing in clinical practice are TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, and TG. The main hazard of dyslipidemia is the increased risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).

The appropriate levels and abnormal stratification standards for blood lipids in the primary prevention population of ASCVD in China are shown in the table below.

LDL-C or TC levels have an independent predictive effect on the risk of ASCVD in individuals or populations. Comprehensive evaluation of the overall risk of ASCVD is a necessary prerequisite for the prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia. The target levels of dyslipidemia intervention are determined based on individual ASCVD risk stratification.

The risk stratification and target values of dyslipidemia are shown in Table 2.
