Explanation
Topiramate is available in tablets and powder. The principle of medication still needs to follow the basic guidelines for the use of antiepileptic drugs, with a slow titration to achieve effective control of seizures without significant side effects. The initial dose for adults is 25mg/day, and for children, it is 0.5mg/(kg*day), taken once every night for one week. After that, the dose can be slowly increased according to the table, taken in two divided doses, until the seizures stop or the target dose is reached [adults 100-200mg/day, children 4-8mg/(kg*day)]. Some patients require 200-400mg/day to be effective.
