Calculation Formula

OSTA index = (Weight - Age) × 0.2

Explanation

This formula is applicable to postmenopausal women.

OSTA > -1 Low risk, OSTA between -1 and -4 Moderate risk, OSTA < -4 High risk.

This tool is based on research from 8 Asian countries and regions on postmenopausal women, collecting multiple osteoporosis risk factors and conducting bone density measurements. From these, 11 risk factors significantly related to bone density were selected. Through multivariate regression model analysis, two simple screening indicators that best reflect sensitivity and specificity were derived, namely age and weight.
