The classification method proposed by Mason in 1954 is widely used both domestically and internationally:

| I Type | Small fracture fragment or marginal fracture, no displacement or slight displacement. |
| II Type | Marginal fracture with displacement, involving more than 30% of the radial head. |
| III Type | Comminuted fracture of the radial head. |
| IV Type | Comminuted fracture of the radial head with posterior dislocation of the elbow joint. |
