Diagnostic Criteria for Dementia

1. Impairment of recent and remote memory
2. At least one of the following cognitive impairments 1) Impaired abstract thinking
2) Impaired judgment
3) Other higher cortical function impairments
4) Personality changes
3. Memory and intellectual impairments lead to significant decline in social and occupational functioning
4. Exclude delirium
5. Evidence of either of the following 1) Evidence of organic lesions causing memory and intellectual impairments
2) Memory and intellectual impairments cannot be attributed to any non-organic mental disorders
