Mehdian Classification of Capitellum Fractures (Kocher Fractures)

Type I (Hahn-Steinthal Type) The fracture occurs at the base of the capitellum, with the fracture line in the coronal plane. The fracture fragment includes most of the bone of the capitellum and may also include part of the adjacent trochlear margin articular surface.
Type II (Kocher-Lorenz Type) The fracture fragment involves the articular surface of the coronal plane, with little attached bone.
Type III (Broberg-Morrey Type) Chondral contusion of the coronal plane of the capitellum.
Type IV Shear fracture of the capitellum, involving the lateral margin and lateral half of the trochlea. This type of fracture is often associated with potential elbow joint instability.
