Explanation
Diagnosis can be made if criteria 1+2+3+4 or 1+2+5 or 1+4+5 are met.
Knee joint involvement is the most common in clinical practice. Early symptoms include pain and stiffness, alternating between one or both sides, often occurring when going up and down stairs. Symptoms worsen with activity and improve with rest. Physical examination may reveal joint swelling, tenderness, crepitus, and varus deformity of the knee. In some patients, muscle atrophy around the joint may be observed, mostly due to disuse.
