Number Details
1 Low back pain for at least 3 months, improved with activity, not relieved by rest
2 Limited motion of the lumbar spine in both the sagittal and frontal planes
3 Chest expansion less than the normal value for age and sex
4 X-ray showing bilateral sacroiliitis grade 2-4 or unilateral sacroiliitis grade 3-4

Explanation

X-ray showing sacroiliitis, along with any one of the above criteria 1-3, confirms the diagnosis of AS.

Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a chronic progressive inflammatory disease primarily affecting the sacroiliac joints and axial skeleton. Clinically, it presents as sacroiliitis, spinal and peripheral arthritis, and may involve various organs such as the eyes, lungs, cardiovascular system, kidneys, and nervous system to varying degrees.
