Development Index:

Calculation Formula

Fetal Development Index = Fundal Height (cm) - 3 × (Gestational Month + 1)

Explanation

Normal Range: An index between -3 and +3 indicates a normal fetus. Below -3 suggests the possibility of FGR.

Fetal Growth Restriction (FGR) requires continuous measurement of fundal height, abdominal circumference, and maternal weight to assess intrauterine fetal development. A significantly smaller fundal height than the corresponding gestational age is the most obvious and easily identifiable sign of FGR. Fundal height measurement is the basic method for screening FGR. From 18 to 30 weeks of pregnancy, the height of the fundus is clearly related to the gestational age. Dynamic monitoring of the growth curve of fundal height changes, if it is below the normal fundal height average by 2 standard deviations, FGR is considered; slow or stagnant maternal weight gain in late pregnancy also suggests the possibility of FGR.
