The ratio of physiological dead space to tidal volume is an important respiratory physiological index reflecting lung ventilation efficiency. It plays an important clinical role in the early diagnosis, differential diagnosis, dynamic monitoring, evaluation of treatment effects, and ICU ventilation management in diseases such as acute respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary thromboembolism, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
