Description
Immediate bedside assessment can classify pulmonary embolism into high-risk and non-high-risk groups based on the presence or absence of risk factors. This stratification should also be applied to patients with suspected pulmonary embolism as it helps in selecting the optimal diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
Note a. In the presence of shock or hypotension, it is not necessary to confirm right ventricular dysfunction/injury to classify into high-risk PE-related early mortality.
