Result Interpretation

Severity Assessment:

0-20 points: Severe functional impairment, completely dependent on daily life.

21-40 points: Needs a lot of help in life, classified as heavily dependent.

41-60 points: Needs moderate help in life.

>60 points: Mostly self-sufficient in life, mildly dependent.

100 points: Basic life independence, no need for others' care.

The Barthel Index is used to measure an individual's basic living abilities and provides a disability severity score. It consists of 10 items, each scored based on the need for help and the degree and duration of assistance required, with scores of 15, 10, 5, or 0 points. A total score of 100 indicates basic daily life self-sufficiency, with lower scores indicating greater dependence on others. Studies show that those scoring 40-60 benefit the most from rehabilitation therapy.
