RFI = (Urine Sodium * Serum Creatinine) / Urine Creatinine
Normal range: <1
The normal value is below 1. In renal acute renal failure, it is generally above 1; in prerenal, it is below 1. In acute renal failure, it can not only make a clear diagnosis but also reflect its pathological condition. Compared with FE: Renal Failure Index (RFI) considers plasma sodium as fixed in the formula, but in fact, plasma is generally low and variable in acute renal failure. FE considers plasma as variable, so it can explain the problem better.
