Diagnostic Criteria for H. pylori Infection

In the diagnostic criteria, the clinical and research standards mentioned in the 2003 Tongcheng Consensus are no longer included. The following methods can diagnose current H. pylori infection if the results are positive:
1. Any one of the following tests on gastric mucosal tissue: RUT, histological staining, or H. pylori culture;
2. Positive 13C- or 14C-UBT;
3. Positive HpSA test (monoclonal method);
4. Positive serum H. pylori antibody test indicates past infection (antibody titer returns to normal 5 to 6 months after H. pylori eradication). If never treated, it can be considered a current infection.

Explanation

RUT, Rapid Urease Test; 14C-UBT, 14C-Urea Breath Test.
