Interpretation of Results

Score ≤2, with no individual item score >1, indicates clinical remission; 3-5 indicates mild activity; 6-10 indicates moderate activity; 11-12 indicates severe activity.

This score can be used for initial assessment and monitoring of treatment response.

"Physician's Global Assessment" is based on other criteria, such as daily abdominal discomfort feedback from the patient, and other (e.g., physical examination).

The Mayo score is also known as the Sutherland Disease Activity Index (DAI).
