For patients with no history of heart failure who survive an acute myocardial infarction with pulmonary congestion and/or left ventricular dysfunction (echocardiography LVEF ≤35%, radionuclide scan LVEF ≤40%), the VALIANT heart failure score can be used to predict the risk of heart failure hospitalization within 3 years.
