Classification of Gestational Hypertension

Classification Clinical Manifestations
Gestational Hypertension BP ≥ 140/90 mmHg, occurring during pregnancy and returning to normal within 12 weeks postpartum; Urine protein (-); Patients may have upper abdominal discomfort or thrombocytopenia. Diagnosis can only be confirmed postpartum.
Preeclampsia BP ≥ 140/90 mmHg occurring after 20 weeks of gestation, and urine protein ≥ 300 mg/24h or (+). May be accompanied by upper abdominal discomfort, headache, blurred vision, and other symptoms.
Eclampsia Seizures in women with preeclampsia that cannot be explained by other causes.
Chronic Hypertension with Preeclampsia Women with hypertension without proteinuria before 20 weeks of pregnancy, who develop urine protein ≥ 300 mg/24h after 20 weeks; or sudden increase in urine protein, further increase in blood pressure, or thrombocytopenia (<100 × 109/L) before 20 weeks of pregnancy.
Gestational Hypertension with Chronic Hypertension Hypertension detected before pregnancy or before 20 weeks of gestation, but with no significant worsening during pregnancy; or first diagnosed hypertension after 20 weeks of gestation that persists beyond 12 weeks postpartum.
