Result Interpretation

The Malinas Score is used to assess and determine whether a pregnant woman is about to give birth or if she should be transferred to the hospital obstetrics department. If the score ≥ 6, it indicates imminent delivery.

A study indicated that using the Malinas score alone cannot be a reliable indicator of imminent delivery, with about 25% of women unexpectedly delivering at home having a Malinas score of less than 5.
