NEXUS Cervical Spine X-Ray Rules

Loss of tenderness over the posterior midline of the cervical spine

Normal alertness

No evidence of intoxication

No abnormal neurological findings

No distracting pain from other injuries

Recommendation:

Clinical Application

X-ray of the cervical spine after blunt trauma is very common. It is recommended to apply clinical diagnostic criteria in appropriate cases to reduce unnecessary X-rays.
