Paralysis, paresis, or recent immobilization of the lower extremities
Recently bedridden (> 3 days) or major surgery within 4 weeks
Calf swelling > 3 cm compared to the other leg
Pitting edema, greater in the symptomatic leg
Entire leg swollen
Collateral (non-varicose) superficial veins present
Localized tenderness along the deep venous system
Alternative diagnosis at least as likely as DVT
Active cancer
