Result Interpretation

The Lund-Mackay Sinusitis Scoring System is a simple tool that can be used to quantify the severity of chronic sinusitis and assess the patient's response to treatment. This system only requires sinus CT scan results and does not require any formal radiological training to use. The limitations of this system are seen in patients with a history of sinus surgery, patients with absent frontal sinuses, and CT scans that cannot distinguish between mucus retention and sinus mucosal thickening. For patients with absent frontal sinuses, the score is 0 when using this system.
